Massive frother when opened - doesn't really settle down. Champagney colour with similarly champagney bubbles, steady bead up to a huge frothy head that just slowly fades down pillow-style. Bit too clear for the beast wheat beer, and too frothy. Otherwise fine.
Smells very dry, with a lot of pine notes, some sulfurous characters as a sidenote of some tart vinous characters. Green apple, pear and some faint berry notes. Again, not the ideal smell for a wheat, but it's refreshing and enjoyable enough.
Taste is fairly tart upfront, with crisp green apple notes and champagney flavours that develop a sulfurous edge midway. Almost mediciney at times, and then gets a rich cherry note on the back, and a lingering honey sweetness that shouldn't really be there. Maybe a bit dryer on the back, and a bit of spice would improve this. It's OK, but a little bit overbearing on the middle, and lacking in some of those classic hefe notes.
Bit stodgy on the mouthfeel actually, syrupy on the body and doesn't quite showcase that furious carbonation. I have mixed feelings about this.
Not bad, drinkable enough but just not quite right in some places.

Pours worryingly clear early on, but a quick stop to swirl the sediment at the end eventually gives it a cloudy body, bright golden orange, with a fizzling and rather bubbling and inconsistent head of white. No lacing at all, and the head really doesn't want to stick around for long.
Nose is somewhat pummeled by the fizzy carbonation output, but as it settles, there are pleasant tones of banana and a slight citric zing to the aroma. A little bit too sharp, both from carbonic characters and perhaps even a touch to much hoppinessâit doesn't let the wheat yeast characters come through. But they're there, and they want to shine.
Flavour is flat and rather dull, but light and smooth enough with some peppy wheat acidity coming through. Really too thin on the palate, and with very little residual sweetness, meaning the lighter wheat character just cuts across the palate. Plus, the aromatics are not strong enough to permeate and give any structure or coalescence to the palate.
Too thinâafter more than a couple of sips I feel loath to continue drinking it. It's pretty flat, lifeless and uninspiring, with even only a few vain hints of what it's meant to be.
