Plain old wheat beer brewed for GABS 2017. The twist is it's fermented in an old clay amphora. Tried at the festival on tap.
Pours a pale straw colour, hint of cloud in the body. Head is white, sparse and webbed. The head is a bit meh, but otherwise looks decent. To style at least.
Smells a bit cold actually, not getting a lot at first. But yeah, pretty damn subtle. Too damn subtle. Vanilla, some grainy notes. Not much of anything.
Taste is decent and more to style. Some caramel malt notes that develops a subtle banana character midway, and a touch of spice on the back. Not too bad but yeah not a whole lot of a twist and certainly don't get a big 'clay amphora' flavour here.
Decent body, smooth enough I guess.
Not bad; a slightly tangy wheat beer. I don't think an odd fermentation vessel is really much of a gimmick unless you can taste it. And this tastes pretty straightforward, really.
